Department Member, The Medieval and Early Modern Centre
About
My project, funded by the ARC Centre for the History of Emotions (www.emotions.uwa.edu.au), looks at emotional responses to public execution. In particular, I examine the use of song and verse in accounts of crimes and executions across early modern Europe (English, French, Italian and German), looking at how music, balladry and performance played a central role in the production and consumption of cheap print and early news media.
