I work on history in popular culture, especially action genres; on rhetorics of place, locality and nation in colonial and transnational conditions; and on cultural studies as a project in the Asia-Pacific region.
Along with my appointment at Sydney I am also Chair Professor of Cultural Studies and Co-ordinator of the Kwan Fong Cultural Research and Development Programme at Lingnan University in Hong Kong
