Thesis Title: Spacetime, Change, and Identity in Classical and Quantum Gravity

Dean is currently working on a book devoted to the history of quantum gravity, from its birth in 1916 to the present day - though Volume I focuses on the period 1916-1956. Work has almost finished on another book republishing the 1957 Chapel Hill Conference on the Role of Gravitation in Physics, with Cecile DeWitt, for the Max Planck Institute's Edition Open Access Series. He is also working on a separate book project investigating the early history of string theory for Springer's Frontiers series. Other research interests include musicology and econophysics.
