About
I worked at the Universities of Melbourne and Adelaide before joining the Department of Gender and Cultural Studies at the University fo Sydney in 2003.
I'm committed to maintaining my research, always in within the general field of cultural studies, across a range of areas, including youth studies and girl culture, modernism and modernity, cultural studies and cultural theory, rural studies, online culture (including fan cultures), ethnography, philosophy (especially Deleuze and Foucault), and art and literature (especially Joyce and Woolf).
Undergraduate units: Youth Cultures: Images and Ideas of Youth; Cultural Theory; Genres in Cultural Context. Postgraduate units: Modernism, Modernity and Modern Culture; Contemporary American Media.
My current projects include a book on The Australian Country Girl, a book on online culture co-authored with Melissa Gregg (also in GCS at USyd), and a new ethnographic project within an ARC-funded discovery project on Australian country towns.
I'm a member of the ARC's Cultural Research Network.
