About
Adam began his career as a Registered Nurse in Brisbane, Australia, where he specialized in emergency care before serving as the clinical risk management coordinator for seven public and private hospitals. In 2003, Adam commenced doctoral studies in International Politics at the Centre for Health and International Relations, Department of International Politics, Aberystwyth University, that examined the World Health Organization's management of the 2003 SARS outbreak. In 2007 Adam completed his PhD and returned to Brisbane where he worked as a legislative and political adviser to an Australian Senator before then taking up a position in the Australian Public Service where he worked in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet as part of a small team tasked with revising and testing Australia’s pandemic preparedness plans. In early 2009 Adam joined the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine where he worked on a European Research Council funded study examining how various ideas, values and beliefs have shaped global public health policy. Adam joined the Centre for International Security Studies, University of Sydney, in mid-November 2011.
